Our HVAC system needed to be replaced, the last of the major renovation projects. This building has two units. One was replaced a few years ago. The second, original to the building, has been limping along for the past year held together with good wishes and a lot of prayers. Mostly mine.
Thank you, Bryan Gunby, Gwinnett Mechanical, and his crew for the fresh clean air we are breathing today. Thank you for the “family discount” on the new system. Thank you and your crew for the 13-hour day yesterday. And thank you for keeping the old unit running for as long as you did. We are grateful.
We had to close the LCM for a day so we could have the new system installed. While we have been doing renovations, we closed a couple of times on non-service days. We do this for safety and insurance reasons. The work crews are skilled at performing dangerous tasks, but less so when they are trying to dodge clients and volunteers.
Even though we post signs on the door and post notices weeks ahead of time, we still have people entering the building hoping to be the exception to the no service and no shopping rule. Sometimes, they get very upset because we ask them to leave. We’ve gotten a few complaints for being “rude”. We refused service because we needed to get the work done quickly and safely. We must be open and ready for the next service day.
As we come to end of the project list and we are starting to wrap the renovations, the LCM is looking good, feeling good and this pretty old building is ready to serve for another 30 years. It’s been a journey, and I admit writing some of these checks was a little traumatic. I think it’s been worth it.
Thank you to Xcellent Flooring, Blue Sky Plumbing, TE Certified Electrical, Gwinnett Mechanical and 1stSource General Contracting. All of you guys have been wonderful – at your trades and the generous pricing you gave to the ministry, and your patience dodging all the people who had trouble reading the closed signs.
