We have many clients who live in extended stay hotels. This is an expensive option for people who cannot afford an apartment. It can be unsafe for women in particular.

We have begun an initiative working with a local investor to create affordable shared living spaces that also offer privacy. Our first project is called the Sunshine House, named for its cheerful yellow exterior. It will be a safe, clean home for women only.

We are currently seeking furniture to fill the space. We need the following items:

  • End tables, lamps, dressers, bed sheets, and blackout curtains.
  • Small appliances (toaster, pressure cooker, etc.)
  • Outdoor patio furniture for the screened porch, rocking chairs for the wraparound porch, and a porch swing.

If you have any items you would like to donate, please drop them off at the Co-op, Monday through Saturday between 10 and 5. Please make sure the items are in good repair.

We are excited about this project. If it is successful, it may be the solution we need to offer permanent housing to people who need a safe place to call home.
